Expected to become an all-inclusive model for future city-planning in and around the world, Jumeirah Central project has recently been launched in Dubai and is estimated to cost Dh73 billion ($20 billion). The announcement of its launch has been made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This dream district will spread over 47 million square feet (sq.ft) of Gross Floor Area (GFA), and will be situated along Dubai’s Shaikh Zayed Road.

These new standards are expected to balance environmental requirements as well as reach new heights of urban development. Jumeirah Central Project: Planning
To carry out the planning and programming of the Jumeirah Central project, 19 government, and private agencies have collaborated along with international experts and consultants, under Dubai Holding. The methods and techniques applied to build this district will not only help make people’s lives comfortable but also play a significant role that will help in replicating future cities like Jumeirah Central. Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, the chairman of Dubai Holding has said that he expects Jumeirah Central to be an architectural and civilized leap into the future. Gergawi has also revealed the cost of the project’s first phase to have reached Dh25 billion ($6.8 billion). He has made a statement saying that he has witnessed an unparalleled cooperation amongst different entities in the city to implement and adopt the ideas and schemes of the project. Morgan Parker is the chief operating officer of the Jumeirah Central project who has said that this project will have several phases to be worked on and hence, the final date of delivery has not been set yet.
Jumeirah Central: Infrastructure, Transportation, and Beauty
This district will comprise world-class infrastructure, a multi-modal transport network, environment-friendly transportation facilities as well as aerial gondolas. Not just this, but Jumeirah Central will also be connected by a complete cycling network and this will span over 33 parks and open spaces. Over half of this district will have open space and will offer an area of 1 million sq. ft. of climate-controlled arcades for comfortable living and pedestrian experience. This city district will be home to 35,000 residents, and will also host 100,000 people annually.
Jumeirah Central will include a total of 278 buildings that will comprise 11,000 residential units, 9.1 million sq. ft. retail areas, 8 million sq. ft. office space, 7,200 hotel rooms, 40 entertainment destinations, 37 public squares, 25 parking entrances, and 33 parks.
Jumeirah Central is anticipated to support the country’s growth in the tourism sector and add value not only to the luxury of Dubai but also to the whole of United Arab Emirates. After its completion, Jumeirah Central is likely to provide a platform for future global innovations that will aim at overcoming international challenges and benefit daily life in all its aspects.
